Peter G. Bertling

Experienced Lawyer Representing Veterans and Military Family Members in Medical Malpractice and Negligence Actions Against the United States Government Throughout Santa Barbara, California and the United States

Peter Bertling founded Bertling Law Group to protect the rights of wounded veterans and their families. Peter is proud to serve the women and men who have so honorably served our country.

Peter is a long standing member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation only group of select trial lawyers whose mission is to elevate the standards of integrity and honor in the legal profession. He has achieved the preeminent AV rating by Martindale Hubbell which is awarded to lawyers who have been recognized by their peers for having achieved the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards.

During his 30-year career, he has saved insurance companies millions of dollars in damages by negotiating equitable medical malpractice, wrongful death, and elder abuse. His insurance defense experience gives him helpful insight as he represents victims injured by negligent doctors, hospitals and other health care providers.

Although he settles most cases for the maximum possible damages, Peter is a strategic, tenacious trial attorney who does not back down from going to trial if he believes he can achieve better results for his clients.

Peter is happily married to singer and actress Deborah Marks Bertling. They live in Santa Barbara with their two rescued black Labrador retrievers and are actively involved with various cultural, humanitarian, and faith-based community non-profit organizations.
